why to change my hsotname!??


Hello All!

everytime i log into my linux box i get something like
log in
[hostname]$ usernanme
pass: ****

why do i need to change the host name of my machine!??
is it really necesary to do!?? in what way will affect my box!??

/etc/HOSTNAME

You may be missing your hostname file. Look to see if you have a file called /etc/HOSTNAME

If your don't then try creating it. My format is:
linux.local
