Remove need for login to windows share?

Greetings all,

Two PCs connected via ethernet, one running RH Linux 9 and the otherWindows XP pro. The PC has a user account called 'Dave' which has no password.

When I connect from Linux to the PC via the Network Servers menu (is that Samba?) I'm getting the username/password box. I only only ever type in the username as there is no password to enter.

What I'm trying to achieve is for Linux to not promp for username and password. Is there some way I can store the username so that Linux does not ask me it every time I connect?

Thanks in advance.

Dave.

Try there....

Your user should not have a blank password, either.

Hi,

That's not really what I meant though. What I'm trying to achieve is for Linux (or is it Samba?) to remember the username/password when connecting to a computer in my workgroup.

Why "must" I have a password?

Dave.
