Smile why "make mrproper" failed

Hi, everyone I'm a newbie to Linux, and these days I'm trying to build a linux system from scratch by following the LFS(Linux from scratch) project's instruction. However, when I executing the command "make mrproper", I got the following error messages.

script/kconfig/conf -s arch/i386/Kconfig
drivers/crypto/Kconfig:44: can't open file "arch/s390/crypto/Kconfig"
make[3]:*** [silentoldconfig] Error 1
make[2]:*** [silentoldconfig] Error 2
scripts/Makefile.clean:17: /usr/src/linux-2.6.22.5/drivers/infiniband/hw/amso1100/Makefile: No such file or directory
make[3]:*** No rule to make target 'usr/src/linux-2.6.22.5/drivers/infiniband/hw/amso1100/Makefile'. Stop.
make[2]:*** [drivers/infiniband/hw/amso1100] Error 2
make[1]:*** [drivers/infiniband] Error 2
make:*** [_clean_drivers] Error 2

can anyone help me, thanks in advance.:-)

Where and why are you executing "make mrproper"? I've done LFS and you are omitting a lot in the description of your problem.

If you can give say, a reference to where in the LFS guide you are (and I'm still here), I might be able to give you some advice.

The only obvious things...

First, are you using a config file, is there one
that you need to copy to .config (or is it .configure?)

Do you need to "make manuconfig" first?

Are the files that it can't find actually where it thinks they are?

Apart from that, more detail would be helpful.

hi,mk27 and tethysgods thank you for your replies. I'm using LFS v6.3 and this command comes from the Chapter 5.3 which intended to get a clean copy of linux head file.

You can refer related information by the following link.

thx a lot.
