why iam getting problems like "...too many files opened" or "segmentation fault"

Hi Everybody,

Iam a newbie to Linux and i have no problem using Linux in my personal PC. But in our college lab , I am ( also my fellow classmates ) facing a problem. We used to connect to server through TELNET, and after working for around half an hour , when typed some command , we used to get messages like

(1) ... too many files opened /bin/<command>

(2) segmentation fault

(3) unable to load libraries from /lib/<file name> etc

So for these reasons, my precious lab time been getting wasted.
so, please help in solving this problem or give me some solution or reason for this problem.
Thank you very much in advance.

are you a lab admin with root access? if not, tell someone who works at the lab or your instructor as there's nothing you can do about it.

I'll take a newbie stab at this one:

My impression is that segmentation fault errors in UNIX/Linux are similar to "referenced memory" errors in Windows. They probably have something to do with one app or process trying to overwrite temp memory held by another, or that memory has been overwritten, and the current app or process can't find its own information in memory. This often happens (at least in Windows) when the machine has been running for an extended period of time without a reboot. This has happened on my Linux box and was solved by a reboot.
