why has my e-mail foundered??
 

I have just downloaded ubuntu 13-04 , and all is well other than my mail (BT Yahoo)will not come out of inbox. it keeps flashing -inbox checking- the e-mail opens and immediatly returns to list. can anyone help please.

How are you trying to get your mail? Are you using a browser? or are you using an email client such as Thunderbird?

Im using mozilla firefox . Never had problem before .

Are you able to log into your email account normally? I mean are you prompted for a username and a password which are accepted by the BT Yahoo webpage? Can you try another browser such as Chrome, Opera, Konqueror or something else? Does the same problem occur?

I can read e-mails on a windows browser on a different machine, I will download chrome and let you knoww. thank you.

I have logged in to chrome and the problem is still there.

Let me repeat the first question, "Are you able to log into your email account normally? I mean are you prompted for a username and a password which are accepted by the BT Yahoo webpage?". I'm talking about the machine with the problem and not the Windows machine.

Yes my email opens as normal I have to log into btyahoo every so often, but I open my e-mail page and it comes up as normal .It only goes astray when I try to read an e-mail. I open the e-mail and it opens and immediatly goes back to inbox page,where it stays and looks normal. It is though the cursor is stuck on the inbox sign, and keeps coming up inbox then checking.This has only started since I downloaded ubuntu 13-04.

Have you tried cleaning the cache? There's something very strange about this. You can log into LQ with no problem. I can't verify BT Yahoo because I don't use it. Maybe it doesn't support linux systems. Why don't you ask BT Yahoo about this (explain your problem). I'm sure they have a help service.

Ive cleared the cache that has not helped.Ive been using BTYahoo on ubuntu ever since I switched to ubuntu,as I said this problem only started when I downloaded raring ringtail the latest ubuntu on thursday.

Very strange indeed. You can either contact BT Yahoo as I suggested previously or try an Ubuntu forum to see if others have had the same problem. I use neither BT Yahoo nor Ubuntu so I'm pretty useless for this problem.
