why fedora render faster than debian based?

with kdenlive..., i dont know why but fedora 15 render 200% faster than debian based (in this case elementary os or ubuntu). I.E.:
HD 720 4000k WEBM takes (in fedora) 20 secs
HD 720 4000k WEBM takes (in debian based) 10 or 15 mins

why?

without knowing the hardware or the software installed and that Debian and Fedora( current) is a apples and oranges comparison

software: kdenlive or openshot
hardware: is irrelevant in this situation because both renders were done on the same computer (AMD64 athlon x2, 4gb RAM)

Debain what Lenny or squeeze
or a Ubuntu version
if so WHAT 11.04 10.10,10.04 ,9.10 ????
KDE or GNOME ??????

and what versions of kdenlive or openshot

fedora15 is using the ffmpeg for multi core cpu's
the older Debain stable is not

Debian squeeze & Elementary OS (Ubuntu Maverick) (gnome 2.x) vs Fedora 15 (gnome 3)

how i get ffmpeg multicore?

sunnydrake 08-20-2011 05:19 AM

try phoronix test suite for tests
if you want to get more stable results compile software from source(project site and not distro) with same flags

Bad assumption.

Nice catch.

http://xbmcmediacenter.com/ffmpeg-ge...hread-support/

I thought that FFmpeg did multicore before that (thoughn it was 'experimental'). If its just been added as a 'full feature' (dated 2011/03/29), it wont be in 'squeeze'.

Recompile with multi-core support. Possibly backporting from testing/sid would get multi-core support as well, I'd need to check that.

Have you considered requesting a name change? Its borderline offensive.

OP,

I asked you via e-Mail w/ no response in over two weeks
to explain what your forum name is supposed to mean; I
personally find it distasteful, and it has been reported
by other members of the community as well.

Please do explain.

Cheers,
Tink
