why does jaunty jackalope cache my NAS data

Since upgrading to Jaunty Jackalope (Kubuntu) every time I want to watch a movie or listen to a song from my network drive which is accessible, the computer displays a message copying to /var/temp/kde-cache, it does this until its copied and then plays it. This is like a download scenario instead of streaming what it used to do and why would I want to save to my comp when I have a network drive. The application in question are mplayer, and amarok. Ive tried Kaffeine but that dont even do jack. It used to just stream before no problem in Hardy, what do I have do to stop it copying and stream instead. Many thanks for a solution.

Try use use smb:/, fish:/ or the right protocol in Konqueror, it should overwrite any Kubuntu specific code.

It does it for video, inside konquerer but why do I have to do that when it didnt before, oh yeah the directory where it caches too before it plays is /var/tmp/kdecache-carl/krun there must be a config file that sets it back to how it was before my upgrade, thank for the suggestion Elv13 but this is not the solution I was looking for.
