Why does a ubuntu 13.04 guest in vmware run very slowly?

I installed the latest version of Ubuntu13.04
I run windows and other linux distros really fast, so why does Ubuntu new versions lag?
how can I make it faster?
thanks in advance

This is a common problem. Ubuntu's Unity desktop needs hardware graphics acceleration, and is probably not able to get at it. There may be some way of configuring VMware (I've never used it) or maybe it's just a bad idea to run such a graphics-hungry desktop on a virtual machine in the first place. If you like Ubuntu, try using the Gnome version and switching to Gnome Classic. If you like Unity, I can do nothing but sympathise (and wonder)!

In addition to what was mentioned above, you haven't given any information on your hardware. Ubuntu 13.04 hasn't been supported for almost a year so I'm not sure why you are using it.
