Why do you delete xpti.dat for flashplayer9?

I installed flashplayer 9 for ubuntu 6.06, everything is fine on that end. The installer ask me to find and delete xpti.dat. What is this file and why did i have to delete it for the flashplayer to work?

I'm not positive, but I believe that the xpti.dat file is a file created by mozilla to enumerate the different plugins/components that it has. So, if you install flash, they probably want you to delete this file so that it gets rebuilt by mozilla/firefox and is then sure to add the flash plugin.
