Why cant i log in as root?

When i try to log in as root it gives me this message:
The System Administrator is not allowed to log in from this screen.

Why is that?
And what can i do to enable root login?

Note, i can however log in as an ordinary user.
Only root is restricted.

I do not know the root of your problem...but I would not suggest logging in as root to begin with. Just log in as your user name and if you need to do something with root permissions, then use su.

>> su
>> Enter Password: and blah blah blah...

What is your reason for wanting to log in as root?

As zombyLinux suggested, its not wise to login as root (every linux non-newb will tell you this). What he suggested would be the right way to go about it. However I ran into the same prob, you have to set root to be allowed to login in your configuration. Its in the KDE/Gnome control panel. I don't know how to do it through the terminal cuz im still a newb good luck.

Ah yes, i know it could be confusing why i would like to log in as root.
Well, i am trying to configure my sound card (i have no idea how) and i wanted to check if root had the same problem as my regular user since someone said that normally root only has permission to audio group.
I did change that however in user config.
But, i just wanted to try.

Try adding yourself to the AUDIO and SYS groups, this helped me with my probs with my audio.

If you are using gdm, you have to edit your gdm.conf.

Example
For gdm, edit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf (location can vary depending on your distribution) and change AllowRoot=0 to AllowRoot=1
