Why can't I play movies?
I've recently formatted my system and installed Fedora Core 3 (I used to run FC1) I also installed xine from rpms I had downloaded previously. But when I try to run a video through xine (of any type) I get the audio, but the video window remains blue. I get no video at all!
I can't see what is wrong, It all worked perfectly fine in FC1. Can anyone give me any hints as to what may be wrong? |
did you install codecs from mplayer.com or from a package called w32codecs or win32-codecs? it might be the only thing you're missing.

extremely hard to figure our from your verbose post. Can you try starting xine from command line and see if it gives any errors. Did you install xine via rpm or YUM? Try installing Xine via yum.

My laptop doesn't have an internet connection, and thus I install everything via rpm.
I'll try getting the win32 codecs and see if that helps. I'll also try running from the command line and see if I get errors. Thanks. |
I installed the win32 codecs, but it didn't help. And there are no error messages on the command line. When I play a movie, it seems to play fine, except there is no video just a blue window. Audio still works fine, though.

you have to add this line to your xorg.conf file, under the "devices" section:
Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps" that replaces the blue screen with the actual video....you can find more information on it at the xine website, under documentation. |
I don't seem to have a xine.conf
Is there anywhere I can get a smaple one to put in place? |
