Why can't I get a wireless connection after installing Linux on my Windows XP laptop
 good Afternoon,
I Am New To This Site And To Using Linux. I Just Enrolled In A Linux Class At School And My Assignment Is To Create A Bootable Linux Flash Drive. This Is Another Issue In Itself. The Reason For My Writing Today Is That, I Went Through The Steps On Connecting To A Wireless Network In Linux But Was Not Able To Get One. I Currently Have A Windows Xp Laptop And I Also Have A Pc Which Is Connected To A Comcast Cable And A Netgear Router, Which Works Just Fine For My Laptop Wireless Connection When I Am Using Windows Xp. My Problem Is That Once I Swithch To Linux, The Network Connection Is Not There. I Am Aware That I Will More Than Likely Have To Create A New Network Conenction Manually. The Only Thing That Appears In The Connections Tab Is Wired Connection And Modem Connection. I Forgot The Steps On How To Do This And Need Your Help If You Don’t Mind. If You Can Please Write The Steps On Getting The Wireless Connection That Would Be Greatly Appriciated. Thank You Very Much!
Have A Great Day

Please don't capitalize every word. Try:
linux # lspci -vvv | less
and see what chip your wireless card uses. After you find that out, come back to this thread and tell us.

Wireless connection
Hi Awesome Machine,
I did what you told me to do and the below information is what I got. I'm not sure what to do from this point. Thank you!
The program Linux is currently not installed
you can install it by typing Sudo-apt get install user-mode-Linux
Bash Linus: command not found
E: couldn't find package user-mode-Linux
