Why /boot/grub/grub.conf is symlinked to /boot/grub/menu.lst

Hey Can someone tell me why /boot/grub/grub.conf is symlinked to /boot/grub/menu.lst ?

Because a lot of people are used to grub's configuration file being called menu.lst would be my suggestion.

Other way round - the grub code references menu.lst
Some distros (Redhat for instance) insisted on patching it to use grub.conf

Stupid idea.
