Why's it so difficult to burn photos to video dvd ?

I have many photos that I would like to put onto a dvd that would play from a regular dvd player connected to a persons television.

Is there no simple method to do this?

The closest that I have gotten is in the creation of a mpeg file made by digikam. The mpeg file plays fine in Kaffeine, so that part worked OK. What I cannot do, is transfer that mpeg to a dvd that will play on a stand alone dvd player. I tried k3b, but the disc did not work in the dvd player. I am frustrated with this process, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Easy, use mplayer.

Example:
mplayer mf://*.jpg -mf fps=1

This will play a slide show. With this information, use mencoder to create a MPEG-2 file. Then use dvdauthor to create a compatible DVD tree. With dvdauthor you can adjust the time per frame if you read more about it in the manual.

You might also want to look at ManDVD

The latest comments say the current version is limited to 100 photos though.
