More info will be needed. What program are you using to burn the DVD's and what type of DVD are you trying to burn?

If you mean "How" do you burn dvds we need some background information. Do you want to know how to assemble a dvd video file system for burning to a disc to play on a dvd player? Or do you just want to create an iso9660 file system containing data that you can burn to a dvd for file storage? Different ways of going about both. Since you are a newbie I'll assume you're from the world of Windows where nearly everything is done from a graphical user interface. I use strictly the command line because if something goes wrong I know immediately the cause. But there are pretty good graphical programs for you. Probably the most popular is K3b. Try that out. I suggest you invest in some of those rewritable dvds so if you mess up you can just use the same one again and again instead of ending up with all these coasters.

I don't understand. What do you mean by readable? And what errors or regressions are you having preventing you from burning one? What DVD burning programs are you using? Do you have the needed codecs and such to play the content you are attempting to burn?

Sorry, but at this point we are unable to assist you in this matter. We simply need a more accurate and much more descriptive and detailed summary of your situation. Without this, it would be impossible to diagnose potential problems. Basically, you have stated a problem without any detail. It's a little bit like asking "I can't slice bread. Why?" Help us help you, and you will begin to receive more meaningful answers helping you overcome your problem.

Remember that a simple Google query often can give you needed information.
