Which version control is Linux world going to

There are several different version control systems available
in linux. Which one seems to be most favored these days?
I guess RCS is pretty much history now and CVS seems to be coming
obsolete too.
What do you think about git or SVN? Which should I learn?

There are lots of them. This is mostly a matter of preference.

I'd probably use git, though I could also live with mercurial or subversion, I really dislike cvs.

Git is a distributed version control. I am curious what circumstances a distributed is better then a centralized system (like subversion).
