Almost everything :D. In general, very few softwares are available for multiple platforms (I am talking about microsoft applications). At the same time most java based applications run on multiple platforms. What were you looking to do?

Actually, not quite.

If you have a compiler, you can run just about any Open Source application on quite a few other systems, including windows and MacOS. The source is available, and your compiler is the one that decides what type of binaries to produce from the source.

In fact there is a program available for just such a situation, it's called Cygwin.

Then, Why there ain't all of windows software available to UNIX,linux ???

If all of UNIX,linux software are so easy to port to windows version ..Then,should UNIX,linux be useless ??

and those useful windows only software will never allow to use by linux users .....we all just dream about it !!! stare at it ?? or try to use some not so perfect Substitution of linux software ???like photoshop cs compare to gimp ???

therefore,it isn't fare to UNIX,linux users !!

Versatility. Backward's compatibility. Emulation, or if WINE, Not emulation.

These are the kinds of reasons you can use just about any Open Source application on just about any OS, but not the other way around. However, that last one, WINE, is different. It's the linux folks trying to make it work both ways. And to further it, the transgaming folks have sought out to cross breed the games. The Win4Lin folks are going even further.

It's not nearly as one way as it seems. There are a lot of options. Using photoshop in Linux is probably not a far off idea. I mean natively, not through Win4Lin or Wine. But Adobe actually putting out photoshop FOR Linux.

Anyway, that's idealism, not necessarily fact. So the fact is that it's not too hard (ok, so maybe it's subjective fact :D ) to get those applications that work in windows to work in Linux, and vice versa ;)
