which Ubuntu for a newb?

I'm a total linux Newb. I know some basics but i don't want a Gentoo Style of interface as i don't know very man command line, uh, commands. I heard Ubuntu is very pictorial which is more my style. I was looking a some DVD releases but which one is best for my Newberness?
* Ubuntu 5.04 (Hoary Hedgehog)
* Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger)
* Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake)
* Kubuntu

Or would some other version of Ubuntu be better for me? Or even a different distrobution?

thanks
Alex Chisholm

Go with Ubuntu 6.06 it is the newest Ubuntu out. Not sure abou kubuntu due to lack of knowledge and experience with it.

I'd ask in the Ubuntu forums if I were you, you'd probably get a more timely/informed response.

I hear lots of people like Breezy Badger and people have been having problems with Dapper Drake (not quite sure/remember what these problems entail, it's just what I remember reading)

But yeah, the Ubuntu forums here would be good to ask this in.

I think some people were having problems with their kernel. I have yet to experience that with any of my installations, but all computers are not equall.

I'd suggest Dapper. It's been touted as the most stable of the ubuntu's. I am myself gonna upgrade soon.

regardless of either Ubuntu, or Kubuntu the 6.06 base is the same however Kubuntu uses KDE. I consider it eaiser if converting over from windows
