which Ubuntu for a newb?
I'm a total linux Newb. I know some basics but i don't want a Gentoo Style of interface as i don't know very man command line, uh, commands. I heard Ubuntu is very pictorial which is more my style. I was looking a some DVD releases but which one is best for my Newberness?
* Ubuntu 5.04 (Hoary Hedgehog) * Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger) * Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) * Kubuntu Or would some other version of Ubuntu be better for me? Or even a different distrobution? thanks Alex Chisholm |
Go with Ubuntu 6.06 it is the newest Ubuntu out. Not sure abou kubuntu due to lack of knowledge and experience with it.

I'd ask in the Ubuntu forums if I were you, you'd probably get a more timely/informed response.
I hear lots of people like Breezy Badger and people have been having problems with Dapper Drake (not quite sure/remember what these problems entail, it's just what I remember reading) But yeah, the Ubuntu forums here would be good to ask this in. |

I'd suggest Dapper. It's been touted as the most stable of the ubuntu's. I am myself gonna upgrade soon.

regardless of either Ubuntu, or Kubuntu the 6.06 base is the same however Kubuntu uses KDE. I consider it eaiser if converting over from windows
