Well its good to try as many distributions as u can and then choose the best for u.

Quote:
Fedora 1 + Mandrake 10.0 Community + Debian 3.0r2 + FreeBSD 5.2.1 + College 2.5 + Mepis 2003-10 + Slackware 9.1 + Knoppix 3.3 =>Total: 22 CD
I tried RedHat, Fedora, Mandrake, Debian and Slackware. FreeBSD is Unix, not Linux. Knoppix is a good way to test if your hardware is linux compatible (havent detected almost anything on my notebook though)

which is the latest one Mandrake Move 9.2 , Mandrake 9.2.1, Mandrake 10.0 Community or something else out of that list??

i586 means Intel Pentium (and higher)
PPC stands for PowerPC (Apple)

Mandrake 10.0 Community is the latest from the list but as far as i know Mandrake 10.0 Official has been just released (Community version was something like beta before official version)

I guess Mandrake comes with both KDE and GNOME as most distros comes with these two

Version for i586 runs on everything like pentium, pentium 2, 3, 4, athlon, athlon xp.... just everything pentium compatible.

That version for AMD is for AMD64 - which is 64bit cpu not 32bit one like those i stated above.

So what u want is that i586 one.
