You need to make sure that you have given yourself permission to execute the file If you're viewing it in a graphical file manager, right click on the file, choose Properties > Permissions, or something like that. Or, in a terminal:

Code:
chmod u+x /path/to/filename.bin
Then you should be able to execute it, in a terminal by cd-ing to the directory containing the file and typing:

Code:
./filename.bin
In graphical mode, just by opening it, I would guess. Hm. I just tried with a .bin-file of my own, and got some weird message. If you still have problems, try out the terminal-type solution.

open WHAT?? You mean any file with the suffix ".bin"

First, do ls -l to see the permissions---you need execute privileges to run a file.

NOTE: Many applications run thru use of a shell script which in turn calls the binary. It is not unusual to see two files with the same name--one of which has the .bin suffix. In these cases, it is usually the one without the bin that you need to run.

If it's a movie file cue/bin here's what I do. Get vcdgear..extract the program than cd into the vcdgear directory.tyep in vcdgear or ./vcdgear depending on which linux your using for options and you'll be able 2 change the format of you file 2 get a new watchable format.
