which one-dont get mad
 

I know this question might get some off you mad becasue it has been done so many times but i am trying to decide wich distro to go with. i had suse 9.2 and i liked it but twords the end i coudnt burn cds or see my hard drive it would say that i did not have access to this file so i went bak to windows well im sick of it adn i want to give it another try. I use my computer for 2 main things one is downloading and buring cds adn the other is grphic design. i also like gimp if an one can help me with this please email

SuSE is an excellent distro...did you try to find out what caused those troubles...did you try searching or posting in this forums on your problems. If you still don't want to go with SuSE (since familiarity with it would help you avoid initial learning curve with a new distro) you can try ubuntu or check out distrowatch.com and decide for yourself.

Suse is supposed to be good, if your willing to give it another try. I'm pretty sure they're at a newer version now, so it won't be exactly what you had before. I'd also second Ubuntu, and suggest possibly Mandriva. I've liked Ubuntu, it takes a bit more work than some of the other newbie suggestions, but it will get you started learning. I started with Mandriva, since it was supposed to be very newb friendly. It seemed to work well enough, though I didn't find it to be too special.

The best advice is to do some research and find what you want. In addition to distrowatch.com another good site to look at is http://www.zegeniestudios.net/ldc/ which has a simple survey that will point you in some right directions.
