The problem is with the built-in ATI video. I personally tested this motherboard last summer (and wrote the audio support for it). To install Linux and boot post-install, you need to change the "VGA=" setting on the kernel command line to "VGA=788" (I think the default on most distros is 794). You will also want to install the drivers from ATI, or download them from Intel (there is a Linux Quickstart cd you can download from Intel with all the drivers for that system).
