which Linux is the best for Old Armada 7800?

Hello all.
I am trying to install Linux on an old Compaq Armada 7800. i just installed ububtu 9.10 but I am having problems with graphics that just don't work when I boot from HD. May be another flavor of Linus is better for this old machine. Slackware? Suse? any other?

For those of us who don't memorize the hardware of every machine ever made, it would be helpful if you provide information about what is actually in a "Compaq Armada 7800".
