what's the min requirement for fedora3/2/1 and mandra10 official?

that kinda hardware will run any pc distribution available atm. It might choke a tad on flashy windowmanagers like KDE or Gnome.. Soo, I suggest that whatever distro you decide on (I suggest you take a look at the distro forum) run fluxbox as the windowmanager.. Ive got our family comp with 400 MHz running Slackware 10.0 and fluxbox.. Even my littlesister knows how to use that, so should be no problem for you.. (:

I am new, don't know which one is good for a starter!!
I've got fedora3 installed in my p4 already.
but when I install fedora3 in my old pc, it's kindda slow (to boot)?? or it will be fine after finish booting?

Well, imho there are two thigs to consider when your new to linux and want a good distro to start with.

1. Do you want to get a system up quick and easy? If this sounds nice, then go with Fedora or Suse
2. Do you want to learn linux, I mean realy realy learn linux? If so, ake the slackware road. Its a distro that teaches you the hard way to the secrets of linux.. (;

If you have alot of daemons set up, the boot will take pretty long with fedora. If you take those off, ofcurse if you dont need them that is, youll have a much faster system bootup.

If you want something simple and small, go with Damn Small Linux. If you want the same thing but with KDE and a bit larger go with Knoppix. They both run off a live CD.

But the others above are correct. If you want to LEARN Linux get Slackware or Gentoo. I tried Slack and it's hell, something like Red Hat or SuSE will do an automatic partition for you and in Slack to do a partition would take you many hours of yelling profane language at your moniter. It's all manual.

Yet I can't recommend something like that to you yet (unless you are really skilled) because you'll end up getting mad and hating Linux. Go with something nice and pretty for now, like DS or maybe Mandrake, and the go with something harder.
