Hi,

I think Ubuntu will run well as it isn't that hard on the resources.
Normally networking won't be a problem on Ubuntu but if you do get stuck, just post your problem.

If I understood your question about "linux program" ...
You mean for internet access right?

Well, Ubuntu uses Mozilla Firefox by default
It is a very good browser and you'll get used to it very quickly

Hi Vas,

Thanks for reply. Can you tell me which version of Ubuntu l should get. l do use firefox at the moment, but l am not sure which version of Ubuntu is best for my low spec laptop and if it is easy to network. There are so many choices l dont know which to get.

Thanks,

Hi,

Get one from 'The LiveCD List'.

There are several others on the list to choose from. Test drive to see what feels good.

The above link and others available from 'Slackware-Links'. More than just SlackwareŽ links!

Hi there sue. Since its so low spec you might consider a distro which is intentionally lightweight, such as Zenwalk or Mepis. They come with less but I'm guessing that's what you want (less dependencies, less to load, less RAM needed)...

I found both of these easy to install and everything worked out of the box (inc. mp3 playing, various vid formats including M$ ones, wireless network, etc)
