Which Linux Distro is the best for USB Flash Drive?

Hi there

I am just wondering, Which Linux Distro is the best for USB Flash Drive?
I need Linux on a flash drive so I can take it (my PC) with me, just plug it in and my OS is in front of me.

Thank you
Patrick

Puppy Rules from pen drives

I have had great luck with PuppyLinux. It is less than 100 mb with many apps, is very stable and fast. Runs on most anything and never spins up the hard drive unless asked to do so.

I used Slax.

http://www.slax.org/

Plenty of modules to add to it so you don't need to install programs, just copy the module to the modules folder, and thats it!

It depends on the size of your flash drive. DSL, I believe, will work from a 512Mb drive, but F9 would probably need an 8Gb drive. I'd suggest that you look for a distribution with a live CD and instructions for putting that (and some space for "persistent" information) on a flash drive. (The DSL site has lots of interesting flash-related information.)

I had DSL on a 512Mb drive for a while, but now I mostly use F9 from a 250Gb USB drive. Not as portable as a flash drive, but better for my needs.

Which brings up the second point: What is best for you depends on what you need to accomplish. Tell us what that is (in detail, not vague words), and you might get more considered responses.

Billix is releatively new, http://sourceforge.net/projects/billix http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/10088 and looks pretty cool. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, though.
