Which Linux? and hdd partition
I've got a couple of simple questions.
1. Can I use my current hard drive partition (I have C and D on win98). Basically is it possible to reformat one of those partitions as a linux one without affecting anything on the C partition. 2. I'm a noob and I've been trying out Damn Small Linux based on KNOPPIX and it all seems good I just can't get a lot done on it. I want to know what people think would be a good linux to go for, for my first hard drive based linux. I want it to have Python if at all possible and a speedtouch usb driver would be useful for t'internet access. So if anybody's got a minute to answer my questions I'd appreciate it. |
Welcome to LQ :D
Question 1: Short answer is YES. Longer answer is do a search of LQ for "dual boot" we also have a Linux Tutorial or 2 on dual booting. Question 2: I'd say go with Fedora or SuSE or Mandrake. They are geared towards new users and are very "friendly" but you can still get a lot done. |
Thanks XavierP. Anybody else got anymore suggestions espsecially on which linux to go for.
