Which instructions to follow: Free BSD, Unix, or RH 7.1

Hey,
I will be trying to install webmail on a mail server, but I want to make sure that I won't mess it up. As I was reading the requirements and instructions for installation, I notice that instructions differ for unix, free bsd, and RH.
When I log onto the server it says Linux Mail 2.6.6-1-k7, so which one of the instructions should I follow? THanks in advance...

What is the distribution used on your mail server? Give the output of uname -a.
