Which imap server ?

Hello all,

I am building an email server on centos with postfix, clamav, spamassassin and squirrlmail.

My question is what imap server should i use uw-imap, cyrus or devocot ?

I believe that uw-imap used to be the default imap for redhat however, I think its nolonger a default package or its been replaced with devocot?

Thanks

dovecot should be fine as an imap server. It supports SSL, which is one of the things that I was very concerned with.

Dovecot should also work out of the box (unless you want something like SSL as per Wells)

My impression is that both Cyrus and UW are more tailored for enterprises, while Dovecot (even though it can support large installations) is a better choice for a individual since it tries to be simple to setup and admin.

You might find http://www.opensourcehowto.org/how-t...irrelmail.html useful.

Thank you so much for all the replies.

One last question: does anyone have a how to or instructions on how to setup 2 mail servers, the first one checks for spam, virus and does email blocklist then sends all filtered emails to the second server.

I have a product from TrendMicro called IMSS which i would like to install it on the first server then send all clean emails to our second server which is our main email server.

have anyone designed anything like that - any suggestions will be appreciated

Thanks
