"which files to copy to hardisk for Hardisk installation "
i have a problem installing linux from Cd-rom.so, i want to install it from hardisk. which files from the 3 cd's should i copy to my hardisk?
and after booting setup from a startup disk how should i specify the directory in which the image files are present? |
What distro are you planning to install? Are the ISO files saved on a NTFS partition?
|
I have copied the disks to /dev/hda5/Linux/Disk 1
/dev/hda5/Linux/Disk 2 /dev/hda5/Linux/Disk 3 I selected /dev/hda5 and wrote Linux/Disk 1 in the directory but I recieved the message "THE SPECIFIED FOLDER DOES NOT CONTAINS ANY IMAGE FILES" the file system is FAT32 |
All of the ISO images should be in the same directory.
Try using /linux/disk http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...nstall-hd.html |
which folders on the CD's contains Iso images. are the Rmps Iso iamges?what is the extension of iso images ?
|
The extension of an ISO image is ISO. These are the files that contain the image of the CD as in fc2-i386-disc1.iso.
You still didn't specify which distribution you are installing. |
I am installing Linux 9.
There is only one file in all the 3 cd's having .iso extension which is /Linux/Disk 1/images/boot.iso I even selected the above directory during installation but it also didn't work. |
Which linux 9, Mandrake, slackware, SuSE, Redhat?
Its not a file within any directory its the entire CD image that is downloaded from a website such as linuxiso.org. like: http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=29 |
RedHat Linux

can't I use the files copied from the linux 9 cd-rom to my hardisk for hardisk installtion?
