please use better thread titles than "help!!!"

please pay attention to the forum you post in. this clearly has nothing at all to do with networking.

What do you mean by "which file"? If you mean after you install a cd-rom device (i.e. plug it into the system and boot), then my lucky guess would be that it's the device file..but it's another matter then if it's created by some program (like udev) or by you yourself (the old fashion).

If you could clarify the question more, it could possibly clarify the answer too.

I want to ask one simple question.
which file is created in UNIX OS when we install a CDROM (H/W device) by any means(USB/DATA BUS(40 pin)/etc.).??

this definetly means that the file is created in /dev file system.but i wanna know the name of that file.this was asked to me in an interview.

well this varies hugely depending on the operating system. under linux it'll be /dev/hd[X[ for an ide device, /dev/sd[X] for a scsi device

some distributions might add a /dev/cdrom as well as the real block device or something, but as i already said, there's no specific file, as you clearly already know for usb sticks... brother...

Hello,
I'm not sure what you mean. The name will vary depending on where you plug it in & what other drives are there. If it is a IDE/PATA it will be called /dev/hda?
If it is in the first slot it will be /dev/hda1 USB drives are /dev/sd??
