which distros support install-mbr command?

Hello,

I am trying to install MBR on a disk via 'install-mbr' as described here: http://www.tin.org/bin/man.cgi?secti...ic=install-mbr

I have tried several live-usb distros but none of them supports the command.

Could you please recommend a live distro (preferably a small one) which supports this command?

Thanks

The world has come a long way since 2006.
Perhaps you might expound the problem you are trying to solve.

what are you trying to do?

I was trying to install an MBR to a disk from which I had deleted it by mistake. (I was unsuccessfully trying to replace lilo with grub, suddenly had 4 mbr files and instead of leaving one, I deleted all).

I finally solved that with Plop Linux, that distro has a special rescue ISO (only 2 MB!)for installing MBR. However, I still had to reinstall the original OS, but at least the disk wasn't lost.

Thanks for your help anyway!

the Master boot record is not a program you install , it is a location

you reinstall grub or lilo TO the MBR
the first part of the first partition

Some apps maybe gparted fdisk and cfdisk might have an option to install a default mbr.

Just depends on what mbr you want as noted above.
