Which distro should I choose?

Ok I've experienced Linux with Red Hat 9 and is being a very frustrating but also should say educative experience. Now I'm downloading Fedora core becuase is like a red hat 9.5. But since I'm just migrating to Linux and the installation of files has been a pain for me taking me days to install just one simple program I'm thinking of downloading Mandrake to and install mandrake instead of fedora now what you thing guys. Please notice that I'm open to any suggestions and yes I would still learn more about Linux and will read a lot of tutorials just to improve but i need something for now Which distro then???

Can't go wrong with Gentoo.
The documentation alone makes it stand-out from the rest of distro crowd.
Plus it runs like lightening.

I would recommend doing a search for which distro. There are about 50 or more threads on it, as it's asked all the time.

I would also recommend reading some of the reviews in the reviews section.

Thanks,
Whitehat

Very much so.
The best way to learn Linux is to get your hands dirty.
By the time you work through a Stage3 install (or if you are more aggressive Stage2 or Stage1) your Linux knowledge will easily double if you are new to Linux in general. Plus it gives you a chance to see how a ( for the most part) bare bones Linux isntall performes.
