Which Distro auto-detects dual monitors the best?
 

Hi,

I've been messing with Ubuntu a little in the past couple of weeks, and have been enjoying it. However, I am having huge difficulties setting up my second monitor (which I simply can't live without now).

I've tried several different HOWTOs and other guides, but nothing has been able to hep me set it up manually, so I pose the question:

Which distribution of linux is the best at auto-detecting and automatically configuring dual monitors?

I am using an ATI Radeon 9200 (AGP) for one screen and an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 (PCI) for the other.

Hi,

I didn't have any problem with Fedora 5 but I believe that the first thing is that the distribution recognizes the video cards.
Once that has happened, screen recongnition is secondary.

If recognition is successful, then after the installation is complete you should check for an application like Display Settings (in Fedora under administration). This should show you your settings, hardware, and something called Dual Head that will allow you to control the second video setup.

Thank you peterb, I was actually going to try Fedora 6 next, so that works out rather well. I'll give it a shot I suppose.
