Question Which Distro?

Hello all,

I am trying to find the best linux distro for running java gaming programs like Minecraft to its fullest. I currently run it on Windows 7 but i am running into client side lag and problems. I was wondering since Linux has a small footprint and resource req. would it be better for running Java for minecraft and minecraft servers? If so, Which distro will suffice the most for my needs?

-Edit- What I am trying to get is which distro is configured and is optimized for Java. Especially Java programs that tend to have memory leaks *cough* Minecraft *cough*

Thanks

Fauntix

I can't think of a technical reason that the choice of distro would matter--I would think that Java is "just another application". If it's like a lot of computer applications, the speed is tied to RAM as much as anything else.

You can optimize the speed of any distro by shutting down unneeded services---in the extreme, you can compile your own kernel.

I'd say try it on some random distro---If it's not fast enough, then you can attack the problem in more detail.
