Which distro?
I think I got this in the right place, but if not, feel free to move it, mods.
The question is which distro should I use on a computer I recently obtained for free from a school. It has 64 MB RAM, a 200 MHz Intel processor, and a 420 MB hard disk drive. And of course CD and FD drives. Just wondering if anyone here could suggest such a distro, preferably one with at least a little bit of a GUI. Thanks in advance. |
DSL.
It would run really fast on that machine, here is their homepage: http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/. By the way, if you do a search on LQ, you will find a LOT of these kind of posts, even with the exact same subject. You are new so don't feel bad about it  . |
the above post is correct, I recently put it on a P1 with 32mb ram and ran very well indeed, probably faster than our work laptops with redhat and mandrake on ;)

oh and the GUI is very good, looks very nice

In addition, you should get ZIPSlack if possible. It will run fine:
