Which books do you recommend ?
Hi,
I am a newbie and would like to know which books you would recommend i read. Thanx |
Are you talking about Linux specific books? Or maybe open source related?
I would recommend any of the O'Reily's books they offer on Linux and related computer topics. You may want to get a book specific to whatever Linux Distro you are planning on or using now as well as it will be more specific to the details of that distro. |
Specific to the Linux+ Certification
I have mandrake 8.0

Which certification were you looking at doing? Redhat or Sair, LPI? They all have books on those, you can usually find at any local book store, usually the Exam Crams are ok... but I have the one for the LPI, it seems to go a little off topic, and I recommend getting the official bookds made for the Sair and or Redhat if you go that route.

You didn't say if you downloaded LM 8.0 or if you have the distribution. If you have the distribution, there are a few books on disk. I don't remember which disk, but if I remember correctly, the directory is /mandrake/ebooks.:study:

One of the most-recommended for those new to Linux is "Running Linux" by Matt Welsh, published by O'Reilly. Whatever your interests (Linux, C++, PERL, etc.), the O'Reilly books are good references to have.
As far as online material, the place to go is The Linux Documentation Project. All of the HOW-TOs, as well as online books and guides, can be found there. |
