without knowing specific desktop environment and default installed gui software, the only thing that is constant across all distributions is the command line which isnt very noobie-ish, sorry.
i am assuming you are able to mount
the camera so that it shows up as a hard drive.
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb
you mite need to define the filesystem and your ptp-camera mite not be sda
you can use cdrecord
to burn the files.
mkisofs -r -o tmp.iso *.jpg *.mov; cdrecord dev=0,1,0 tmp.iso; rm tmp.iso
do cdrecord -scanbus
if your cdwriter isnt the scsi device 1.
this isnt tested so man
up on options.
i think youd need the essential
codec-pack from mplayer to play quicktime movies.
