wheres dos?


OK OK, Im sure thats not what I need in Linux? But where in SuSe Linux 9.0 would I go to ping another box? Also, Ive seen some instructions on various threads to run this command or that command, where do I go to do that?

by "dos" you mean a prompt or a "shell".

run a terminal program, aterm, xterm are popular ones.

That's (probably) bash, ping away

p.s. ctrl+c to stop the ping and get averages etc.

look around your menus?

Failing that, ctrl+alt+F2 out to a console, login there, then do xterm -display :0 and it should open the xterm on your X window session. (ctrl+alt+F7 to get X back).
