where will kb::kbrequest:cal work in Fedora12?

Here we are for another assignment out of the lab book for my Linux class. The assignment is to add kb::kbrequest:cal into the /etc/inittab file, which would apparently work fine in the Fedora Core 2 that goes along with the book. However, I have installed Fedora12 in Virtualbox because it's newer so every now and again, the steps don't line up.

So, in Fedora 12, the /etc/inittab file specifically states that configuration changes made to the system will have no effect if done in this file. So, my question is: where will the aforementioned kb::kbrequest:cal config work? I tried it in the inittab file anyway but it didn't work.

I also have specified a specific KeyboardSignal in the /lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/us.map for when I can find the right file to put the request into...

Thanks so much for your help!

Im not a big Fedora fan, but i believe when it says, "ADDING OTHER CONFIGURATION HERE WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON YOUR SYSTEM." It means you can't screw up your system if you add another line. Not "If you add a line it won't be recognized."

So just add it to the bottom of the config file and you should be alright! That is assuming your command is a working one.
