Question Where to dwld the vlc dependent packages

I'm compiling vlc in Fedora 13 and i'm getting lot of dependent errors. I would like to install the dependencies. Can someone help me in getting the vlc dependent packages.

I prefer compiling from source codes. Kindly let me know the sites where i can download the codecs.

Welcome to LQ. .. .. ..

How about : # yum install vlc
.. which will display a list with all dependencies and give you an
idea about the 29 " -devel " packages required to compile vlc.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-fedora.html

And if you hit enter for yes [y], vlc is installed, and you
don't have to compile it.

( I just did that on Fedora 13 - 64 : about a minute for all 30 packages.)

Good luck !
..

P.S. : If you want the source code for the 29 pieces of software,
they should be easy to find with Google, when you now have the list
with the required versions.
..

I like to build my own programs BUT there are a few i gave up on after the first few times , or more , and now use the package managers for most .
vlc and mplayer are two that i no longer have the time or inkling to build from source anymore .
i have in the past do you have all day to build the dependencies ?

do not get me wrong . Building from source IS A GOOD LEARNING EXPERIENCE , and recommended for some things

you might want to have a look at mjm's page and the part for vlc
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f13.html
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...l#mediaplayers
the codecs are listed
