where is the programs installed ?


when installing a program like wine for example ..

where can i run this program ?

and where the program is installed ?

normal executables ---> /bin
installed ---> /usr/bin
system ---> /sbin

in addition, most distributions come with a program called "whereis" ...more of a script a believe.
but in any case, just "whereis wine" and you should find it quite quickly.

executables ---> /bin
installed ---> /usr/bin
system ---> /sbin

Once you find an executable, to run it in linux, open a terminal cd into the directory and type

./your_executable_file

Unlike Windows Linux doesn't have exe files you can just click away on.
