where is grub.conf?


i need to edit it but cant find it.

Make sure you mount your boot partition with:

mount /boot

(Assuming fstab is set up correctly)

then it should be located at /boot/grub/grub.conf

you've lost me there mate

how do i mount it?

ive typed mount /boot but it says it cant find /boot in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab ?

secondly i dont understand y i need to do this?

grub is already loading, i just cant find the conf file.

It should be:
/boot/grub/grub.conf

theres a load of files in /boot/grub but no grub.conf!?!?!?

ll /boot/grub

I have the same problem, no /boot/grub/grub.conf

Sometimes /boot/menu.lst is used instead.
