Installing RPMForge and VLC
I saw alot of reply for this, but none that actually help you A to Z.
To install VLC, I would recommend to use the RPMForge. See this link to see how to install RPMForge yum repository for CentOS: http://www.nesociety.org/tutorials/l...into-centos-5/ Once this is done, you can run the command: yum search vlc Example for i386 architecture, this output the following result vlc.i386 vlc-devel.i386 To install, type: yum install vlc.i386 These instruction should be the same or very very similar for CentOS 6 Hope this help! |
First visit this site http://rpmfusion.org/ download and install the rpmfusion.rpm as root like so

While it is true that the post is old, the information I provided was still relevant and well formatted for anyone searching how to install VLC.
IMO most people would be searching the forum to see if their question was already asked or answered, and for those that will search, this howto will show em exactly what they need to do (hence the difference between the others post above, which provide half or only part of the instruction to accomplish this.) That basicly why I took 15-20 minutes to put this up and hope to help not only the OP, but anyone looking to use VLC. VLC really rock, it is free, and there so much thing you can do with it, such as streaming and watching security camera and much more. They deserve a proper howto instruction on how people can use it :) Quote:
