Smile where do I start?

I am COMPLETELY new to this amazing world of linux. I am running Ubuntu 8.10 and till i installed Linux i had never be exposed to so much technology. There is so much information to harness and understand, but i really enjoy this. I am lost. Can anyone tell me a website or a tutorial (or just tell me) that tells me where to start in this new amazing world of Linux? I am very thankful for all help.

look for the linux user's guide

it looks pretty old, but it seems to be a great way to start

some introductory stuff like from power-up to bash prompt

at least that's what i did, and i'm still a noob,
