so how do you install yumex when there is no such file or directory? I put the code in exactly the way you said it?

Never tried installing it on a distro that uses deb packages. If I were to do that, I'd compile yumex from source and use checkinstall to create a deb package, then install that.

FYI, in the reverse situation, using apt (or synaptic) on an rpm-based distro (in my case, Fedora), I see the same apps as with yumex of PackageKit because Fedora has set up their repositories to use apt for rpm.

ok how do you compile yumex from source and use check install to create a deb pkg? r u saying use alien to convert to deb? If you are that wont work it only converts to red hat, slackware, stampede and lsb package. Unless one of those are a deb distro? I have no clue what im using ubuntu 10.4 lts on my netbook.

and by chance how do you fix this i have a problem with the cdrom. yes i do know there isnt one on a netbook, but when i went to the update manager the error message i get is this. Failed to fetch cdrom://Ubuntu-Netbook 10.04 _Lucid Lynx_ - Release i386 (20100429.4)/dists/lucid/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz Please use apt-cdrom to make this CD-ROM recognized by APT. apt-get update cannot be used to add new CD-ROMs. In the terminal i put that code sudo apt-get cdrom add and that gives me an error message to it is E: Invalid operation cdrom. so my question is how in the world do i fix this? thanks for the help
