When we say "bots" or "internet bots"

When we say "bots" or "internet bots" or "bots that live in a server and work for the server"

What are the bots? Are they binary C programs, or programs written in C++, or are they scripts (that never get compiled)

What are the bots usually written in?

thanks, world class experts @ LQ!

That completely depends on what the bot's being used for. They can be written in anything. I've got some bots written in java, and some in C++. It depends on what languages the creator knows, and what he/she is wanting to use them for. There's sooooo many different reasons to have bots. Mainly for optimizing your performance, or having them do things when you cannot. That's what I use mine for.
