Depends on the environment, what services you're running on it, and what the server needs to do. Describe the situation you're in, and we'll have a better idea on how to answer.

Or is this a homework question???

Please open your own thread for a question...don't hijack someone elses.

When you post this as your own question, please give more information. The 'tips' you get, will depend on what you're doing. Does the router you have do firewalling, or is it just a router? What web language will you write your pages in (java? PHP? DHTML/HTML?)?

And since you have DHCP, you won't be able to register an address to a static domain name, since you won't be able to get a static address.

For a dynamic IP, use http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/.
Apart from that, for both Posters, we need more detail, and you might want to ask the Mods to move this to the Security forum (use the Report button).
