When recompile one kernel, it's necessary rename config for oldconfig???


When recompile one kernel, it's necessary rename /boot/config for oldconfig, or can be another name?


when compile one new kernel, is generate one file named config or .config? what's correct name?

Saving the config is purely for your convenience - call it whatever you like.
I name all my kernel/config/system.map triplets with the same extension. Just makes sense later.
