When i run Linux, the red light on the casing which shows harddisk access becomes on

When i run Red hat Linux 7.3, the red light on the casing which shows hard disk access becomes on. It remains on for all the period with out being off, even if i am not doing any work. The on and off procedure of light is normal when i use any windows OS.
Thanks.

How much memory do you have and what is the size of your swap partition?

use dumpe2fs. you can use df and du to see what is going on on your disk. If your root partition (/) is over 90% full then I suggest you resize it and add it a few GB.
